Everykey: The Bluetooth Key

By May 25, 2017 R&D Tax Credits

How many times have you had to click “Forgot Password”, as part of the several subscription accounts one has, in the past month? Also, how about trying to find your keys in your purse, bag or reaching for your pocket while attempting to open the house or car door? Good news! Everykey is here to assist as a solution to all these problems.

Everykey is a Bluetooth device that replaces passwords and keys. Created by industry veterans such as John McAfee, the application can unlock phones, laptops, tablets, cars, among others. Everykey unlocks these access-controlled devices when the user is nearby and locks them when they walk away. The application also allows you to log into your website accounts by generating a secure password. It automatically logs you in when you visit a website.

Moreover, if the user ever loses the Bluetooth device they can freeze it. The device can be frozen through the Everykey App or by calling the company. Once the device is frozen no one can use it. The user will be able to still use old keys and passwords until the device is found and unfrozen. As mentioned above, you can install different Everykey’s settings through its cellphone application. The user can pair Everykey to different devices, manage the locking/unlocking distance range, and freeze it if stolen or lost.

Additionally, the company allows any third-parties to create new applications for the Everykey device. This means that anything, from a house door to a light bulb, can have Everykey compatibility. The only requirement is that the item needs to be Bluetooth Low Energy compatible.

Everykey is the perfect candidate to claim the Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit. For example, the activities incurred to design, develop and constantly improve the device and cellphone applications are considered qualified research activities. Additionally, Everykey’s technical employees and outside contractor’s wages qualify as research expenses for purposes of the tax incentive.  To learn more about these federal and state R&D Tax Credits email us at [email protected]
